About Prometheus
Making energy. Making a difference. Making a profit.
The combination of these elements is at the core of our company. The timing was perfect for the right technology, resources and global energy situation for our philosophy to not just succeed, but to set a new direction for an energy company.
Currently most LNG is produced in large facilities. These facilities are efficient, yet they are often hundreds of miles away from end users. Transportation expenses can significantly increase the fuel’s cost.
Now for the revolution. The Prometheus approach is to use our proprietary technology to produce LNG on a small, distributed scale from untapped resources that are spread all over the planet. Our relatively small, efficient facilities produce fuel close to where it will be used.
Instead of burning off the methane gas created in landfills, why not capture it and convert it into fuel that can replace diesel and Propane?
The second element of our approach is that our facilities produce LNG by capturing methane from a variety of typically overlooked sources. These resources, such as landfill sites, stranded gas wells, wastewater treatment facilities and coal mines all produce significant amounts of methane. Historically it hasn’t been commercially feasible to utilize much of this gas and it’s frequently burned off as waste. Our technology turns this waste into valuable fuel. There are also environmental benefits.
A case to replace 20% of the diesel burned today.
Using the existing sources we’ve identified, it will be possible to generate enough LNG to replace 20% of the diesel fuel used today in transportation on U.S. highways. At a cost significantly lower than diesel,, fleets can reduce fuel costs dramatically. These are not “someday” savings. These savings are starting to be realized today.
Prometheus Energy starts with innovations in the production and distribution of LNG. But that’s just the beginning.
